VLDB Solutions is a systems integrator (SI) that specialises in data warehousing, business intelligence and data mining within the IT industry. The acronym VLDB stands for "Very Large Database", which encapsulates our company's particular area of expertise. How big is big these days in the database world? While there is no hard or fast guidance on this, it typically means over 10 billion rows in a single table, 100 billion rows or 100TB in a system. As an SI our role is to advise and assist clients so that they can select, implement and deploy technology solutions to solve specific business challenges. Our area of particular expertise is high-end massively parallel processing (MPP) database platforms, such as Teradata and Netezza. We typically engage with large well-known organisations on projects covering business functions as diverse as direct marketing, CRM, analytics, customer and product profitability, customer retention, and financial planning and forecasting.
